Andrea Dovizioso
Italian rider, Andrea Dovizioso began his riding career at the age of 4. His riding talent and passion for the sport became evident very quickly. At 14, Dovizioso competed in the very first Aprilia Challenge at Misano. He ran away with the race and went on to lead the series and win the championship. He then went on to win two more 125cc championships before he was picked up by Team Scot Honda in 2002 for a place on the 125 World Championship grid.
He spent the next two seasons collecting top ten finishes, podiums and points and finally earning himself the 125cc World Championship crown in 2004. The step up to the Quarter Liters came in 2005 where he finished third overall at the conclusion of his first season. 2006 and 2007 saw Andrea duking it out with Spanish wiz, Jorge Lorenzo and his tightly wound Aprilia, finishing runner-up both seasons.
2008 marked Dovizioso's debut in the MotoGP Premier Class, and his first GP podium by year's end. His rookie success caught the attention of Repsol Honda, who subsequently picked him up for their team and the 2009 season.
During the 2009 season, Andrea definitely proved that he has the talent and precision riding technique to take him far in the series with an impressive 6th place finish in the World Championship final standings. He has signed on with Repsol Honda for another season and will ride for them again in 2010.
